The South Canara District Cental Co-operative Bank Ltd, Mangalore a Pioneer in Co-operative Bank functioning in the South Canara & Udupi District in the coastal part of Karnataka State in India. The Bank had completed its 95 years of Banking with dedicated services to the Agriculturists in particular and common people in general through its fully computerized 53 branches. The main aim of the Bank is to promote and implement Co-operative principles through which it gained tremendous support & success.

The Bank has achieved recorded total turnover of Rs. 1,228.25 as on 31 -03-2008 as compared to Rs. 1180.00 crores in the year 2006-07. |

Remarkable achievment in Deposit Mobilisation: |

The Bank had mobilized deposit of Rs. 671.00 crores as on 31-03-2008 as compared to Rs. 521.43 crores in the year 2006-07 which shows an increase of 28 .68%. |

The Bank had advanced Rs. 310.46 crores to farmers for agriculture purpose & Rs. 277.02 crores to Non-Agriculture purpose during the year 2007-08 . |

The Bank has made a silent revolution in rural upliftment by implementing the scheme of Self Help Group, which resulted in formation of 21,488 Navodaya Self Help Groups, and 32,720 groups in total which is a state record. They have mobilised a total savings of Rs. 33.94 crores from 1,88,012 members of which more than 80% are women members.The total groups which have been advanced by the Bank is 19,510 group and the amount outstanding is Rs. 71.81crores as on 31-03-2008 . |

The Bank has achieved National record in recovery of Agriculture loans by the way of recovering 100% since consecutive 12 years. |

Mangala Kissan Credit Card: (Crop loan lending) |

The Bank had issued 58,516 Mangala Kissan Credit Cards as on 31-03-2008 to the farmers of the undivided district, which is a state record. Out of which 46,332 card holders are covered under personal accident insurance Scheme. |

Deposit Guarantee Fund: |

In order to safeguard the interest of the depositors, the bank has implemented the Deposit Guarantee Scheme of the State/Central Government by covering the deposits upto Rs. 30,000/- per depositor under this scheme 161 primary agricultural Banks are enrolled out of 173 PACS in this both districts. |

III) Implimentation of Government Scheme:

Yashaswini Insurance Scheme: 1,20,271 Farmers of the undivided district enrolled to the Yashaswini Insurance Scheme the year 2006-07 and 1,58,330 members 2007-08. |

Chaitanya Insurance Policy (Mediclaim): This Scheme was mainly implemented to member of Self Help Groups who are below the poverty line. This policy involves small premium with higher risk coverage. |
| c. |
Interest sub-vention & Loan waiver scheme: 4% Interest Sub-vention Scheme introduced by the State Government is effectively implemented during the last 3 years and it had been benefited to 65,138 farmers. Under this scheme the State Government also waived loans upto Rs . 25,000/- with the interest thereon for the year 2006-07. |

Swarojgar Credit Card: The Bank has implemented this scheme to provide credit requirement to tiny,cottage and village industries, 555 members were covered under this scheme with Rs. 1.21 crores advance outstanding. |

V) Awards:

Apex Bank Award: The Bank has been awarded the Best DCC Bank by the State Co-operative Apex Bank since last 8 years. |

NABARD Award : For the formation of highest number of Self Help Groups, the Bank bagged the NABARD AWARD for the consecutive 8 years. |

Co-operative Department Award: In the occasion of Centenary Celebration of Co-operative movement in the State, The Karnataka State Co-operative Federation has awarded to the Bank “Best DCC Bank- 2007” in July – 2007 held at Mysore. |
VI) Introduction of New Scheme by the Bank:

The Bank has introduced ATM (Automated Teller Machine) on 04-09-2001 for the first time in the History of Co-operative Bank at National level. This was introduced for quick service to our customer and to face the competitions among the other public sector Banks. |

On 01-06-1998 our Head Office Branch i.e. Kodialbail Branch started its service for 12 Hours a day. |
| c. |
Banking On Wheels : Our Bank has introduced Banking on Wheels which is first in the History of Banking in India. The credit for introducing and functioning Mobile Bank goes directly to the President of our DCC Bank. |
| d. |
Any Branch Banking (ABB): The Bank introduced a new thought of service to our customers by Any Branch Banking. A customer having an account in one branch can transact in any of our branches. |
| e. |
Single Window System: The concept of single window system is introduced in all the branches, where a customer can avail all the banking facility in a single desk. |
| f. |
Dress Code: In order to maintain uniformity and discipline among the staff members, the Bank has introduced Uniforms to all the staff members. |

Molahalli Shivarao Eduction Fund : This is a dream of our president to donate and educate the efficient and bright children of rural base in the name of the Co-operative Pithamaha Molahalli Shivarao. |

Insurance Coverage to the depositor: The depositor who maintain a balance of Rs. 10,000/- in his/her current/savings account, continuously for 90 days will cover under accident Insurance benefit upto Rs. 15,000 for Hospitalisation and Rs. 50000 for partial disability and Rs. 75,000 for fully disability and Rs. 150000 in case of death. |

Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust : To form Self Help Groups, the Bank has promoted the habit of savings among the people of rural and urban areas and through the Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust (R) micro finance is provided to the rural mass in a most simplified manner. |

As per NABARD Guidelines, the bank has formed Vigilance Cell, T.M.E. Cell and Women Development Cells. |

The bank has given assistance to 174 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies for computerization and the amount involved is Rs. 1.63 crores to develop transferency in financial statements. |

VVV Clubs – Farmers Club: The Bank had formed 153 VVV Clubs. This club is formed to bridge the gape between the farmers and Primary Agricultural Co-operative Banks. |

3. Construction of new building with all modern amenities and a full pledged training center for co-operatives.

5. Introduction CORE Banking System.
