The Bank was registered in 1913 and started formal functioning from 1914. Puttur was the first registered office of the bank subsequently it was shifted to Mangalore. The Bank is having 53 Branches including service Branch spreading over the undivided South Canara District at Mangalore.

The Bank is giving top priority for financing Agricultural sector since inception, taking into consideration of various credit needs of the farmers. The Bank is striving to provide timely and adequate finance through the primary Agriculture Societies at the ground level. The bank is taking active participation in Government sponsored schemes such as S.G.S.Y, Swarojgar Credit Card Scheme etc.

The bank has issued 58516 Mangala Kissan Credit Cards to the members of the PACS and out of which 46332 Members have been covered under personal accident insurance schemes. A scheme of Rs. 296.92 crores has been advanced under this scheme during the year 2007-08. The Borrower of the crop loans are also covered by the crop insurance of the Government. With a view to diversify the activities Bank is also financing to non-farm sector since there is scope for financing under non form sector in both the Districts.
 
Bank has provided financial support to the sugar industry under consortium arrangement and advanced Rs. 38.35 crores to 10 sugar factories in various districts of the state of Karnataka

The Bank has taken active participation in the promotion and financing the Self Help Groups. The Bank has promoted 32720 SHG groups under the supervision of the Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust (R), Mangalore.

The Bank has bagged State Level Awards for best performance of SHGs from NABARD since 8 years. The SHG groups have mobilized           Rs. 33.94 crores as savings and 19510 groups are credit linked by the Bank and Rs. 71.81 crores loans advanced to them.
 
The Bank has not lagged behind in customer service. All the Branches are fully computerized. The Bank has introduced several innovative service activities like Single Window System, Any Branch Banking and ATM facilities etc.

The Bank is having ATM at Mangalore and Udupi. 12 hours of Banking from 8AM to 8PM is also available at Kodialbail Branch.

The Bank has introduced Mobile Banking – A Bank on Wheels to facilitate Banking Services to the rural population, where there is no Bank Branches. The customer can avail all banking transactions such as deposits, withdrawal and loan facility. The Mobile Bank is inter connected with all Branches of the Bank through Any Branch Banking facility.

The Bank has mobilized Rs.671.00 crores of Deposit as on               31-03-2008 and loan outstanding Rs.557 crores, out of which Rs. 247.98 crores as S.T. Agricultural and Rs. 62.57 crores as M.T. Agricultural. The Bank Advances loans to various purposes as per needs of the borrower such as loan to vehicle purchase, housing, commercial complex, pledging of jewels and loan to purchase consumer durables and also for agricultural land purchase.

The Management of the Bank is vested with Board of Directors consisting of 14 members under the president ship of the veteran              Co-operator Sri M. N. Rajendra Kumar, who is also the President of Karnataka State Co-operative Apex Bank.

Our Bank has bagged Best performance Award from KSC Bank since last 12 years.
